The platform listens to your consultations, transcribes them accurately, and understands the clinical context. It can be used as a live assistant during consultations or for classic dictation afterwards. Who created Clinic Companion?
Clinic Companion was founded by Dr. Sukhvinder Dhamrait and Parminder Dhamrait in December 2024. Dr. Dhamrait is a GP Partner with extensive experience across various healthcare settings including A&E departments, urgent care centres, and GP practices. He serves as both CEO and Clinical Safety Officer. Parminder Dhamrait serves as Chief Operating Officer and CTO. As a seasoned pharmacist and policy writer, she brings expertise in healthcare standards and regulations. The team combines decades of healthcare expertise with cutting-edge AI technology.

How does the AI transcription work?
Clinic Companion uses advanced AI technology to listen to and transcribe your consultations. Simply record using your computer microphone or mobile phone, our AI processes in near real-time, automatically formats into professional clinical notes, and you can review and edit before copying to your clinical system. You can use Live Consultation Mode for real-time transcription during consultations, or Classic Dictation Mode for recording after the fact.
Can I use my phone as a microphone?
Yes! Clinic Companion offers a unique mobile recording feature that allows you to use your phone as a microphone. Record on your phone using our high-security mobile app, click the mobile button on your desktop interface, and your recording will be ready to load straight in. Perfect for home visits and on-the-go consultations with the same security standards as desktop.
How accurate is the medical transcription?

What is the Action Menu feature?
The Action Menu automatically creates a todo list from your consultation notes. It extracts action items directly from your text, groups tasks by type (medications, follow-ups, investigations, safety netting, lifestyle advice), and lets you track progress by checking off completed items. Perfect for busy clinics where you need to ensure all agreed actions are completed.

Clinic Companion includes revolutionary SNOMED CT integration. SNOMED within Consultation finds relevant codes as you consult, making them easier to find on EMIS and SystemOne. SNOMED Document Search lets you upload letters or documents and automatically generates the 5 most relevant SNOMED codes. Perfect for QOF achievement and clinical coding accuracy.
How does the consultation formatting feature work?
The consultation formatting feature transforms your dictation into professionally structured clinical notes with one click. It organises content into History of Presenting Complaint, Past Medical History, Medications, Examination findings, Assessment/Diagnosis, Plan/Management, Safety netting, and Follow-up arrangements. The AI understands clinical context and organises information appropriately.
What are Templates and Shortcuts?
Templates let you create custom consultation templates for different presentations, save them for frequently encountered conditions, and share with colleagues. Shortcuts provide quick-access phrases for commonly used text, medical abbreviations that expand automatically, and standard examination findings. Both features help maintain consistency and speed up documentation.
Can I use Clinic Companion for home visits?
Yes! The mobile recording feature is ideal for home visits. Use your smartphone as your microphone, record anywhere with mobile signal, and sync automatically back to your desktop. Same security standards as desktop recording with seamless integration into your workflow.
How does patient consent work with Clinic Companion?
Patient consent is important. Inform patients you're using an AI assistant, explain that recording helps ensure accurate documentation, give patients the opportunity to decline, and document consent appropriately. Clinic Companion includes a recording consent dialog feature that can be configured in your settings.
Can multiple clinicians in a practice use Clinic Companion?
Yes, Clinic Companion supports multiple users. Each clinician has their own secure account with personal templates, shortcuts, and transcription history. Practice/Enterprise features include template sharing, centralised billing, and practice-level analytics. Contact us for multi-user licensing with volume discounts.
Is Clinic Companion suitable for medical trainees?
Yes, Clinic Companion is particularly valuable for trainees. Benefits include learning support with evidence-based clinical information, differential diagnosis prompts, reflection and CPD tracking via FourteenFish, and time-efficient documentation. The Free Account is perfect for trainees to start learning.
Can I use Clinic Companion for telephone and video consultations?
Yes! For telephone consultations, use your desktop microphone or speakerphone mode to capture both sides. For video consultations, run Clinic Companion alongside any video platform (AccuRx, NHS App, Teams, Zoom) and your microphone captures audio from both sides. All standard features are available.

How does letter generation work?
Clinic Companion's AI-powered letter generation creates professional letters instantly after consultations. Support includes Clinical Referral Letters emphasising medical findings, Patient-Friendly Letters with accessible language, Advice & Guidance Letters with structured advice, and Custom Letter Templates. The AI adapts tone appropriately for each recipient.
Can I create custom letter templates?
Yes! Create and save your own letter templates for standardising documentation. Features include creating custom templates, controlling visibility (private or shared), accessing community templates, and including placeholders that auto-fill with patient information. Perfect for referral formats, sick notes, fitness to work letters, and more.
Integrations
How does FourteenFish integration work?
Clinic Companion integrates with FourteenFish for automatic reflection and CPD tracking. After each consultation, AI automatically generates meaningful reflections, every reflection counts towards CPD points, and it helps build a comprehensive portfolio. AI-assisted reflections meet RCGP standards and demonstrate meaningful learning outcomes.
What clinical software does Clinic Companion integrate with?
For private providers, we integrate with Semble and Cliniko with consultations automatically added to patient records. For NHS, we're working towards integration with SystemOne, EMIS, and Accurx. FourteenFish integration is fully available. For enterprise clients, we can create custom integrations tailored to your requirements.

Free Account (£0/month): 100 AI credits, 100 transcription minutes, all core features. Basic Plan (£19.99/month or £210/year): 500 AI credits, 500 minutes, advanced features, email support. Pro Plan (£44.99/month or £480/year): 1,000 AI credits, 3,000 minutes, priority support. Save up to 20% with annual billing. NHS Enterprise and Private Enterprise solutions also available.
What are AI credits and how do they work?
AI credits are used for intelligent tasks: formatting consultations, asking clinical questions, generating letters, creating summaries, Smart Suggestions, and SNOMED code generation. Each task uses approximately 1 credit on average. Free: 100/month, Basic: 500/month, Pro: 1,000/month.
How do transcription minutes work?
Most clinicians dictate notes in under 1 minute per consultation. 500 minutes covers ~500 consultations per month (25/day for 20 working days). Free: 100 minutes, Basic: 500 minutes (quick dictation), Pro: 3,000 minutes (full consultation recording).
Is there a free trial available?
Yes! Clinic Companion offers a completely free account with 100 AI credits and 100 transcription minutes every month, indefinitely. No trial period, no credit card required. Test all core features before committing to a paid plan.
Do you offer enterprise solutions for NHS organisations?
Yes, we offer tailored NHS Enterprise Solutions with NHS-compliant security standards, dedicated secure platforms, Clinical Assistant tailored to your local trust guidelines, full audit logs, and custom pricing. We work with PCNs, ICBs, GP practices, and Secondary Care trusts.
What happens if I run out of credits or minutes?
You'll receive a notification when reaching your limit. Basic features continue to work while AI-powered features pause. Options: wait for monthly reset, upgrade your plan, or purchase additional credits (enterprise). Monitor usage in your dashboard to prevent overuse.
How do I upgrade or change my plan?
Log in, navigate to Settings/Billing, select your desired plan, and confirm. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at next billing cycle. Monthly plans can change anytime; annual plans offer up to 20% savings.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Cancel anytime through account settings with no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. Access continues until end of current billing period, then reverts to Free tier. Your data remains accessible and re-subscribe anytime to restore full access.
What's the difference between Basic and Pro plans?
Basic (£19.99/month): 500 AI credits, 500 minutes, email support. Best for quick dictation. Pro (£44.99/month): 1,000 AI credits (2x), 3,000 minutes (6x), priority support. Best for recording full consultations. Both include all features and FourteenFish integration.

How secure is my patient data?
Data security is our top priority. We're DTAC compliant, DSPT certified, Cyber Essentials certified, follow DCB0129 guidelines, and align with ISO 27001. All data is hosted within UK and EU regions with encryption at rest and in transit, regular security audits, and full audit logs for compliance.
What is DTAC compliance and why does it matter?
DTAC (Digital Technology Assessment Criteria) is the NHS standard for evaluating digital health tools covering clinical safety, data protection, technical security, interoperability, and usability. Our compliance demonstrates our commitment to high-quality digital health technology that meets NHS standards.
What is DSPT and how does Clinic Companion meet these standards?
DSPT (Data Security and Protection Toolkit) is the NHS framework for handling patient data. Our compliance means we rigorously follow NHS data security standards, patient data handling is secure and confidential, and we meet all NHS requirements including personal confidential data, staff responsibilities, access management, and incident response.
Where is my data stored?
All data is securely hosted within the UK and EU regions. Benefits include data sovereignty under UK/EU jurisdiction, full GDPR compliance, faster access and reliability, no international data transfers, and AWS EU infrastructure for enterprise-grade reliability.
How is patient data protected during transcription?
Multiple security layers protect data: encrypted connections during recording (TLS 1.3), processing in secure UK/EU data centres, encrypted storage with strict access controls, audit logging, enterprise-grade encryption (AES-256), and regular penetration testing with 24/7 security monitoring.
Can I delete my data from Clinic Companion?
Yes, you have full control. Delete individual transcriptions anytime, request bulk deletion or full account deletion through support. Your rights under GDPR/UK GDPR include right to erasure, data portability, access, and rectification.
Getting Started
How do I register for Clinic Companion?
Visit app.cliniccompanion.com/register, enter your professional details (email and phone carefully for verification codes), accept terms, create a secure password, then verify with codes sent to both phone and email. Once verified, you have immediate access to your Free Account.
What equipment do I need to use Clinic Companion?
Essential: computer/laptop with internet, modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge), and a microphone (built-in, USB, or your phone). For best results: quality USB microphone, stable internet, quiet environment. No special hardware or software installation required.
How do I start a transcription?
Desktop: Log in, click Start Recording, speak into your microphone, click Stop when finished, review and edit the formatted transcription. Mobile: Open the app, tap to record, recordings sync automatically to your desktop. Both live transcription and post-consultation dictation are supported.
Can I edit the transcription after it's generated?
Yes! Full text editing capabilities including adding missing information, correcting errors, format adjustments, and deleting sections. Review the formatted output, make edits, approve, then copy to your clinical system. The editing interface is fast and intuitive.

What browsers and devices are supported?
Supported browsers: Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Safari, Edge, all Chromium-based browsers. Devices: Windows, Mac, Linux computers, tablets for viewing. Mobile app available for iOS and Android for the recording feature. Requires JavaScript, cookies enabled, and microphone permissions.

How often is the clinical content updated?
Clinical content is actively maintained with regular reviews by our clinical team, updates aligned with new guideline releases (NICE, SIGN, etc.), continuous improvements based on user feedback, and real-time corrections when needed. Content is authored by practicing UK clinicians with peer review and quality assurance.
